North Boulder is an area with an eclectic mix of residential neighborhoods, retail spaces, the NoBo Arts District, and open space. Boundaries are defined by Linden St. and Iris St. to the south, 28th St. to the east, and Hwy 36 to the north.

Angie Eng, Cross-disciplinary Artist
Over the next few months, Angie is inviting neighbors to participate in collective creativity via the Avant Gardens project. A call to action invites community members to create DIY botanical sculptures with living plants and found objects. Designed in response to the isolating effects of COVID-19 restrictions, the Avant Gardens provide a symbol of togetherness and serve as memorials for those affected by the pandemic.
Brittney Free, Visual Artist
Brittney’s creates colorful cast resin discs made with bright pigments suspended in the transparent resin form. For the past year she’s been leaving mini-versions of her work around Boulder for observant passers-by to find. She’ll continue this “Free art” gesture to cultivate positivity and connectedness during the COVID-19 restrictions. Keep an eye out for colorful art treasures on your next stroll through the neighborhood.

Devin Hughes, Musician
On Mother’s Day, Devin conducted a digital concert with Boulder Symphony musicians. This concert was performed live stream for residents of Balfour Senior Living who were isolated due to COVID-19 restrictions during the holiday which is typically spent with family. Kathleen Johns, Visual Artist
Kathleen is conducting color study lessons over zoom for residents in her neighborhood. Lessons will be available for kids and adults and using coloring pages made from illustrations by the artist. After a session spent coloring and learning, participants will be encouraged to tape their work in their windows for the entire neighborhood to enjoy.
Alan O’Hashi, Filmmaker
As a filmmaker, Alan is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by producing a documentary about resilience during a time of crisis. A resident of the Silver Sage Village co-housing community, his film will focus on the ways in which our family, neighbors and housemates support and rely on one another to develop resilience to this particular experience.
Robert Sher-Machherndl, Dancer
Robert is developing a choreographed performance in response to the pandemic titled SIX FEET APART for residents of Holiday Park to view from their balconies or terraces. The performance will rove the sidewalk improvising the choreography in response to the energy of the viewers along the way.
Christopher Warren, Visual Artist
AKA Beatnik Prints, is painting a towering tree trunk struck by lightning near Kalmia and 26th. This project will alter the visual landscape of the neighborhood and give residents a fresh perspective on a familiar landmark.
