About the Project

Spires is a set of vertical, illuminated sculptures made up of three “stems” each. Each stem is a 7-foot tall tube of bridge slot steel. The slotted nature of the bridge slot pipe allows light from embedded RGB LEDs to emanate outward in all directions creating an intricate pattern. The spires respond to touch and participants are invited to touch the sculptures to make LEDs change color and pattern.

About the Artist

Dispersion is a collaboration between William Goodrich and Jamie Wirkler. They are an engineer + design team that produces dynamic creative projects including public art, architectural fixtures, and immersive environments. Instead of conceptualizing light as a disparate system to be added to a design, Dispersion has set out to integrate illumination systems within these designs.
